Description

The Outeniqua Pass is a mountain pass in the Western Cape, South Africa, carrying the N9/N12 national road through the Outeniqua Mountains. It connects the coastal town of George with Oudtshoorn and the Little Karoo, and is known for its scenic views and well-maintained rest areas. Built between 1942 and 1951 as an alternative to the older, steeper Montagu Pass, the Outeniqua Pass is a crucial transportation link for the region.
